Pure copper isn't magnetic. Most of the copper jewelry sold online is either plated (a thin copper coating over a cheaper metal like steel or brass) or alloyed with enough iron or nickel to make it feel magnetic — that's the quickest way to spot a fake.

The test is simple:

Grab any fridge magnet
Hold it against your cuff, ring, or necklace
If it sticks — even slightly — it isn't pure copper
If it doesn't stick, you're holding the real thing

Clean it (all from your kitchen)

Lemon & salt — fastest. Dip a cut lemon in salt, rub 30 to 60 sec, rinse warm, dry.
Vinegar & salt — for heavier tarnish. Soak 15 to 30 min, rinse, dry.
Baking soda & lemon — gentlest, for engraved pieces. Make a paste, work into grooves, rinse, dry.

Always dry immediately.

Just wear it. Skin oils polish the metal daily. A piece in a drawer tarnishes faster than one worn.

Keep away from: chlorine, saltwater, perfume, harsh soaps, chemical cleaners, bleach, toothpaste. Take it off before swimming or applying anything to your skin.

The green mark is copper oxide, harmless, and proof your copper is real. Washes off with soap and water.

Store it in the dry pouch it arrived in, away from humidity and other metals.
